I'm Michael Saterbak of Saterbak Quarter Horses, LLC. I specialize in training performance horses, riding lessons, clinics, judging, and buying and selling show horses. My wife Melissa and I have shown quarter horses in 4-H, open, and quarter horse shows for the past 15 years. We simply love horses and are happy that we found such a wonderful interest in our relationship together and with others. I started showing quarter horses in 4-H when I was 10 years old. Since then I've been a winner at the Minnesota State 4-H Horse Show, WSCA Championship Show, and in several quarter horse shows. In 1994 I won the Minnesota State 4-H Horse Project Dan Patch Award. 1995 ended yet another great year when I was awarded the Denver National Stock Show Individual Judging High Point award. I have other accomplishments I am proud of, however the Dan Patch award still stands as my greatest personal accomplishment. The Dan Patch Award was named after "Dan Patch", the famous pacer who on September 8, 1906 startled the world by pacing the mile at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in the record breaking time of 1:55 minutes. The Dan Patch award is based off a 4-Her's participation as a youth leader in 4-H, specifically the horse project. It requires you to be active in all aspects of the horse project, manage accurate records, participate in and sell yourself on interviews and presentations, and finally serve with what you've learned. Through this process I've acquired a deep respect for knowledge of what I do, knowledgable people, and the ways to which people use their knowledge. I have always felt that the people who are the best at what they do are the ones who can teach it too. Recently I have become a judge for the Western Saddle Clubs Association to which I have been a 14 year member. I am also a Minnesota State 4-H judge and volunteer. I have beena participant and coach for several 4-H horse knowledge bowl, judging and hippology teams. I train horses and the people who ride those horses. While I specialize in finishing quarter horses in the performance areas of western, English, showmanship, etc., I also believe in starting from the ground up. I've been giving clinics and demonstrations revolving around several horse related subjects for 11 years and now I have started giving group and individual riding lessons.
